Canon 5D Mk II + 17-40mm F4 L USM @ 30mm, 120 Seconds, f/18, ISO50
A couple of nights ago I was showing Simon around to a few of the popular local Perth photo locations along the Swan River. We decided to stop by the Matilda Bay Boatshed to take a few photographs at sunset. The clouds in the sky had been quite promising all day and we knew that light was going to be pretty good.
Simon set up his Fotoman 617 and shot a few frames, and when he had done, I took a couple of longer exposures to capture the last light of the day.

Hazy Perth

I shot this photograph of Perth City the other night while there was a lot of smoke blowing across the face of the city from a fire in one of the southern suburbs. The smoke silhouetted the buildings a bit and created a nice effect. Very little processing was needed for this photo, which is always a good thing, I think.
I’d like to see this photo printed out nice and large. I think the pastel colours would look quite nice on some Fujiflex or high quality pearl paper. Any takers?
I haven’t been out shooting a lot lately, but I am itching to get out, so I’m sure that I will be posting more often shortly.
Perth 2010 HD Short
As most of you probably know, I’ve recently purchased the Canon 5D MkII and have been playing around with the HD video features of the camera. The quality of the recordings it captures is quite astonishing as you can see here.
This is just a quick edit I have put together as I don’t have much more footage to play with at the moment. Over the coming weeks I will be traveling around Perth capturing some more footage and I will extend the length of this film.
Thanks for viewing,

SS Decoy, South Perth

I have wanted to shoot this angle of Perth including the Decoy for a while now, and the other night I finally got off my ass and drove down to South Perth. I think it might be better at sunrise, so I’ll have to return here early one morning, maybe over this coming week if any other Perth photographers wants to join me?
It’s a 7 photo stitch with the 5D MkII and 50mm lens. It came out at about 60″ at 300dpi, which will allow for a generous sized print.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my photographs!
