During my time living “remote” in Australia’s Pilbara region I photographed this Hakea many times.
On this particular evening I was racing against the clock to make it to the tree in time for sunset. I pulled my Nissan Patrol up a couple of hundred metres away on the dirt track and grabbed my equipment and ran through the spinifex to quickly set up. A few minutes passed and the sky was illuminated bright red and orange hues. I pressed the shutter a handful of times and then the colour was gone.
Luckily for me we had recently had some rain so the foreground was filled with lush green spinifex and shrubs.
